This semi silent yoga, meditation and mindfulness retreat is an opportunity to spend 5 days cultivating mindfulness through yoga, meditation and mindfulness with a community of like-minded people.
In this retreat you’ll explore mindfulness through yoga, sitting, mindful walking, body scan practices and more. This retreat is nurturing for both body, mind and spirit as we explore the deeper dimensions of mindfulness.
An immersion retreat like this is an opportunity to experience the life-enhancing benefits of living truly in the present and offers a quality of experience that deepens over time. When we allow ourselves this time, we gain insight into ourselves and how we connect with life in the moment.
Over the course of the retreat, you’ll experience a blend of mindfulnes practices including yoga, pranayama, sitting meditation, walking meditation, body scan meditation, yoga nidra, mindful eating, mindful listening, karma yoga (which means to engage in every day activities mindfully) and more. Sitting practice is deliberately alternated with walking, yoga, lying down and karma yoga as a support to nurturing the body through the retreat. Melli believes you do not have to endure physical discomfort in the body in order to cultivate mindfulness. Taking care of the body is an act of self compassion and wisdom.
This semi-silent retreat is a nurturing, enlightening and rejuvenating weekend that will leave you feeling more conscious and connected when you return to daily life.
On the mindfulness intensive retreat you will experience…
• A variety of mindfulness practices throughout the day
• Periods of silence to deepen practice
• Brief daily teaching to support practice
• Connecting with a community of like-minded people
• Delicious healthy vegetarian food
• Time to relax in the beautiful gardens and forest of the ashram
• Immersion in mindfulness practice for five days (without distractions).
This retreat is suitable for those who have had at least some exposure to meditation, mindfulness or yoga. If you have previously done a MBSR or another mindfulness or meditation course/retreat, practiced regular yoga or mindfulness in some form you will particularly love this opportunity for pure practice.
There will not be beginners instructions given. If you have never meditated or practiced any form of mindfulness before you might prefer to go to ‘The Art of Mindful Living’ retreats which are run several times per year.
The retreat is held at the Mangrove Mountain ashram which is conveniently located only 90 mins north of Sydney. For the past 25 years the ashram has promoted sustainable, simple and mindful living through both its courses for the public and by its own example.
It’s one of those places with a really special vibe. It’s an oasis of peace, surrounded by beautiful forests and majestic cliffs.
Here you can enjoy bushwalks and kayaking in between sessions, or simply relax in the garden or library.
Accommodations are simple, clean and usually shared. If you prefer camping or a single/double room those options are also available (full details below). Delicious, healthy vegetarian food will be provided.
